A thief has been banned from carrying tools after he was caught disassembling bicycles and stealing handlebars.
Tommy Steer, of Page’s Walk in Bermondsey, was convicted of seven thefts across Lambeth and one offence of criminal damage to bike brake cables.
The 24-year-old stole the handlebars of bikes which were locked up in the Waterloo area.
At Croydon Magistrates’ Court on October 22 he was given a two-year community order including 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £2,800 of compensation to the victims.
Steer was made the subject of a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
The order bans him from being in possession of any tools that can be used in theft or burglary, including but not limited to Allen keys, angle grinders or bolt cutters.
He is also banned from being in possession of any individual bicycle parts unless he has a receipt proving they’re his.
Steer is also banned from being in possession of any bicycle that is not registered in his own name online.
