Pupils at St Columba's Boys' School in Bexley have achieved impressive GCSE results this year, showcasing the success of the school’s unique blend of "traditional and contemporary" educational approaches.

Located on Halcot Avenue, the school has a longstanding reputation for excellence, having served the community for over 50 years.

St Columba's Boys' School, in Halcot Avenue, achieved strong results in both academic and vocational subjects.

Headteacher Dave Evans shared that for five years, the school has been focusing on improving students' results in English language.

Last year, only 55 per cent of boys nationally achieved a grade 4.

In 2024, however, 73 per cent of the St Columba's cohort achieved a grade 4 or higher.

St Columba's also reported noteworthy results in art, computer science, French, religious education, and triple science.

These achievements enabled students to secure places at a variety of post-16 options, including the school's partner sixth form, Christ the King, grammar schools, and apprenticeships.

The school's reputation for 'discipline, calm learning environments, and high-quality teaching' contributes to its strong academic performance.

The school, which has a close-knit community feel, also provides 'world-class' career events to prepare students for the world of work.

The GCSE results reflect the ambitions and expectations of students, parents, and staff, reinforcing St Columba's position as a leading school for boys of all abilities in the borough.

The school's head boy, Jamie, and the senior student leadership team, including deputy head boys Oseyiyo, David, and Archie, along with house captains and head parents Connie and Hung, play a crucial role in fostering a supportive school environment.

They act as models of a St Columba’s boy, voice for all students, and provide guidance and support to their younger peers.

Jamie stated: "Our goal is to build an inclusive community where everyone's voices can be heard and we can learn, self-improve, and have fun together as brothers along our journey through life."

St Columba's continues to foster a learning environment that encourages academic achievement and personal development.

St Columba's ethos, encapsulated in the phrase, 'Once a St Columba's Boy... always a St Columba's Boy,' signifies the school's lasting impact on its students.

The school takes pride in its pupils, celebrating their achievements and preparing them for future challenges.
