Several roads in Southwark will face temporary closures over the coming months.

The move is to allow for works by infrastructure provider BLU-3 or its appointed contractor.

The road closures will take effect on various dates:

  • Ilderton Road between Old Kent Road and Patterdale Road will be closed from November 18 to January 24.
  • Hatcham Road between Manor Grove and Penarth Street will be closed from November 22 to January 16.
  • Ilderton Road between Patterdale Road and Hornshay Street will be closed from January 25 to March 1.
  • Finally, Ilderton Road at the junction with Hornshay Street will be closed from March 3 to April 14.

The closures will be in effect at all times of the day.

The alternative routes for affected traffic will be signposted along the roads.

Access to premises will be allowed as much as possible without interfering with the works.

The restrictions will not apply to emergency service vehicles, vehicles connected to the works, or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform.

Further information can be obtained by contacting Road Network Management at ttmo@southwark.gov.uk.

The closures come under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14(1), which allows for temporary road closures for the purpose of carrying out roadworks or works on or near the road.

The council of the London Borough of Southwark announced these closures in a public notice on October 24, 2024.
