A pensioner from Abbey Wood was caught with indecent photos of children as young as three-years-old.
Peter Horner, 78, came to the attention of the National Crime Agency last year when he uploaded an indecent photo of a child to the internet, a court heard.
Horner’s home on Rutherglen Road, Abbey Wood, was searched and his laptop was taken.
But when he was interviewed he told police officers “I have no interest in child pornography”.
He was released on bail but in a telephone conversation with an officer he later admitted “I know what was on the laptop” and said he would plead guilty.
In total police found 20 child abuse images, some depicting children as young as three years old.
At Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday (October 24) Horner was given a five month sentence suspended for 18 months.
As part of the sentence he must sign the sex offender register and comply with a sexual harm prevention order.
Before he left the court Judge Nicholas Heathcote Williams KC warned him: “Keep away from this stuff, Mr Horner.”
