A person has been charged after a “large” machete was found during a patrol near a secondary school in Greenwich.
On Friday, October 18, police were patrolling near Plumstead Manor School when they stopped a person on Gossage Road.
The individual reportedly became aggressive and spat at officers before allegedly finding a machete in his waistband.
Police say the suspect was already on a suspended sentence.
The person has since been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting emergency workers.
MPS Greenwich shared on X: “On 18/10/24, officers patrolling near Plumstead Manor School stopped an individual on Gossage Road who became aggressive and spat at two officers during the arrest.
“A large machete was recovered from his waistband.
“The suspect, already on a suspended sentence for a similar offense, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting emergency workers.”
