The police watchdog has launched an appeal for information as it investigates a fatal crash in Eltham involving an unmarked police car. 

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is looking for witnesses to the crash on the A20 near Kidbrooke Park Road at 6.15pm on October 17. 

A pregnant woman and her unborn baby died from injuries sustained in the incident. 

The 38-year-old and three others, including two police officers from the unmarked car, were taken to a major trauma centre to be treated.

IOPC regional director Mel Palmer said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who have died and all of those affected by this tragic incident.   

“It is important we establish all of the circumstances surrounding this incident and our investigation is in its very early stages.

"This is a busy road, and the collision happened in the early evening when people are likely to have been travelling.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and may have witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it.   

“Anyone who saw anything or has footage is encouraged to get in touch with our investigators.”
