This cocktail spot in central London is perfect for vintage train lovers, where you can actually drink in vintage train carriages complete with a themed travel cocktail menu.

If you’re after a themed cocktail spot in London then you have to know about Mr Foggs – a chain of popular Victorian-themed cocktail bars inspired by Around The World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.

Currently the franchise has 12 cocktail bars across London and this Covent Garden bar is definitely a hotspot on account of its location and close distance to so many popular London shows.

The bar recently received a revamp over the summer and we visited to see what it was like.

When you enter you’ll find yourself in the downstairs bar, complete with booths made to look like vintage train carriages, like the ones Mr Fogg himself would have used to travel the world.

There’s also plenty of trinkets and objects dotted around the space, making it one of the most visually interesting places to have a drink at.

As the place is located so close to so many popular shows on the strand and in Covent Garden, a lot of people tend to come here for birthdays or celebrations, as well as tourists looking to find an unusual hotspot, so it has a really upbeat and fun vibe.

Each cocktail bar has a different themed menu and this one was themed around the various routes taken on the train, starting from Charing Cross.

The menu takes conventional cocktails like the Old Fashioned, adding their own unique spin with finishing touches and garnishes, so each is very unique.

The first was their take on a conventional Passion Fruit Martini, made with Carta Blanca rum, Bacardi Carta Negra rum, Grand Marnier orange liqueur, falernum liqueur, Wray and Nephew Overproof rum and lime juice, and finished with a rim of white chocolate.

Meanwhile the ‘Between The Dunes’ was served in a teacup and was a two layered cocktail of Aperol aperetif foam with pink peppercorn-infused Secret Garden Apothecary Rose gin, apple jam, English Breakfast tea syrup and fresh lemon juice.

I really liked the two layers of flavours from the Aperol mixed with the sweetness from the apple and tea syrup – it made for a really interesting drink.

I went with the ‘Dark Alley’, inspired by the notorious Jack The Ripper, which contained Bacardi Carta Blanca rum, pomegranate juice, blueberry syrup, fresh lemon juice and Luxardo Bitter Bianco liqueur.

This drink gave me cosmopolitan vibes, albeit with a slightly more punchy taste, the colour was also very appealing in a deep, dark green and served up all the Halloween vibes.

This was such a fun experience and definitely a worthy spot to visit in Covent Garden if you’re looking for a post-theatre drink or just an evening with friends.
