The Blackwall Tunnel will close overnight this Friday for roadwork.
The closure, impacting southbound traffic only, will be in place from 11pm on Friday, October 18, until 8am on Saturday, October 19.
The closure is to facilitate work on a new road layout on the A102 as part of the Silvertown Tunnel Project.
Northbound traffic will still be able to use the tunnel, although there may be diversions on the approach, and at times, northbound traffic may be diverted through the southbound tunnel.
The Silvertown Tunnel, a 1.4km road tunnel with a dedicated bus lane, was first proposed in 2012 and received approval from the Secretary of State for Transport in 2018.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, check their routes before travelling, and allow extra time for their journeys.
HGVs and other large vehicles are advised to use routes away from central London due to size and weight restrictions on some London river crossings.
Congestion charging will continue as usual during the closures.
Bus route 108 will not be affected by the overnight southbound closures, as buses will be escorted through the tunnel throughout the night.
