A rolling programme of temporary road closures is set to begin in Greenwich.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has announced a series of temporary road closures to facilitate highway maintenance and repairs.
Implemented under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the closures are part of a "rolling" programme aimed at ensuring road safety and maintaining infrastructure.
The restrictions will affect a wide range of roads in the borough.
These include the full lengths of Admaston Road, Alwold Crescent, Anchor and Hope Lane, and many more as listed in the council's official announcement.
The restrictions will apply only when indicated by appropriate traffic signs.
The closures come into force today (October 17) and will remain in effect for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
Not all restrictions will be enforced simultaneously across all affected roads, as the works will be rolled out gradually.
During the closures, access to properties affected by the works will be maintained wherever possible.
Alternative routes for diverted vehicles will be available via local roads, with signage indicating directions.
The council is urging residents and commuters alike to stay informed about the upcoming changes and to plan their routes accordingly.
The temporary changes are aimed at improving road conditions across the borough, enhancing safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
The council has also announced a series of changes to existing one-way systems.
In several areas, the existing one-way prohibitions will be revoked.
These include Admaston Road, Alwold Crescent, Ennis Road, Orchard Road, Plum Lane, and Red Lion Lane.
The affected areas will see a change in the direction of traffic flow, as outlined in the council's official notice.
The introduction of one-way prohibitions at certain locations will also be implemented.
These changes will affect Admaston Road, Alwold Crescent, Ennis Road, Orchard Road, Plum Lane, and Red Lion Lane.
The temporary road closures and changes in traffic direction are part of the council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the borough’s road network.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is urging residents to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes.
The council is emphasising the importance of planning journeys in advance to minimise disruption.
The roadworks are expected to lead to improved road conditions and increased safety for all road users.
The council has thanked residents and commuters for their patience and understanding as the works are carried out.
In its official notice, the council said: "The above restrictions would only apply at such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by the placing or covering of the appropriate traffic signs.
"Whilst the closures are in operation, vehicular access to properties affected by these works would be maintained wherever possible subject to the extent and operations of the works.
"Alternative routes for diverted vehicles would be available via local roads and would be indicated via local signage.
"The Order would come into force on October 17 2024 and would continue in force for up to 18 months, or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
"The works would be conducted on a ‘rolling’ programme and, as such, not all the restrictions stated in paragraph 2 would be in force in all the affected roads."
The council has also provided a detailed schedule of the affected roads and the specific changes to be implemented.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to stay informed and plan their journeys accordingly.
The council has assured that every effort will be made to minimise disruption and maintain access to properties.
