A nursery in Erith has temporarily shut after Ofsted suspended its registration over fears children were "at risk of harm".
King David Nursery in High Street Erith near West Street, which first opened on January 8, is at risk of losing its licence following concerns.
When an issue is reported to the watchdog, a “harm test” is carried out where it looks to identify the different types of risks to children’s safety.
It determines whether it needs to suspend a childcare registration while looking into any possible concerns.
However, if a registration is suspended it does not always mean that the provider has done something wrong.
It may be put in place temporarily giving Ofsted and other authorities such as the police time to investigate concerns.
One person, who posted on a public Slade Green Facebook group, claims to have received a letter from Ofsted explaining the concerns.
They added: “King David’s nursery in Erith has been shut by Ofsted temporarily due to reasonable reason to believe the children are at risk of or have been exposed to harm.
"In the letter it said that should they lose their license this will apply to all premises.”
It is currently unknown when the Erith nursery will reopen.
The News Shopper contacted King David Nursery but has not received a response.
We have also contacted Metropolitan Police to see if it was involved in the investigation, but the force required more details on the alleged incident to clarify.
