Drivers in and around Dartford will face 18 road closures on the National Highways network in the coming weeks.

Four of these are expected to cause moderate delays, with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so smaller road closures will not be included in their schedule.

These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and improvement works across key routes in the area.

National Highways is advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys or seek alternative routes where possible to avoid the most affected areas.

Here are the full list of closures:

  • A282 anticlockwise, junction 1A to M25 anticlockwise, junction 31: Closure from 10pm on September 30 to 6am on October 26 for grillage works in the West Tunnel. Moderate delays are expected, with drivers facing waits of 10-30 minutes. Diversions are in place via National Highways roads.
  • A2 westbound, Old Bexley Lane: A 24-hour 40mph speed limit is in place for VRS works. Slight delays of under 10 minutes are expected. This restriction is in place from August 19 to November 1.
  • A20 eastbound, Crittall's Corner to Swanley Interchange: From 10pm on October 15 to 5am on October 17, lane closure for horticultural works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A2 westbound, Bean to Darenth: From 8pm on October 16 to 6am on October 18, lane closure for drainage works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A282 northbound, Dartford Crossing: From 930pm on October 19 to 5am on October 20, tunnel closure for contraflow works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes. Diversion via Highways England Network.
  • A282 northbound and southbound, Dartford Crossing: From 10pm on October 19 to 5am on October 20, QEII Bridge closure for maintenance, with traffic diverted via East Tunnel (contraflow). Slight delays of under 10 minutes expected.
  • A2 eastbound, Darenth to Ebbsfleet: From 10pm on October 20 to 6am on October 21, slip road and lane closures for maintenance, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A282 northbound, Dartford Crossing East Tunnel: From 10pm on October 20 to 5am on October 21, tunnel closure for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes. Diversion via National Highways network.
  • A2 eastbound, Bean: From 10pm on October 21 to 6am on October 23, slip and lane closures for technology works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A2 westbound, Darenth Interchange to Old Bexley Lane: From 10pm on October 21 to 5am on October 22, lane and slip road closures for routine maintenance, with moderate delays of 10-30 minutes. Diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.
  • A2 westbound, Old Bexley Lane: From 10pm on October 21 to 5am on October 22, lane closure for horticultural works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A2 eastbound, Merry Chest to Ebbsfleet: From 8pm on October 23 to 6am on October 24, slip road and lane closures for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A2 eastbound, A2260 to Pepperhill: From 830pm on October 24 to 4am on October 25, slip road and lane closures for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A282 southbound, junction 1A to junction 2: From 930pm on October 26 to 730am on October 27, lane closures, slip road closures, and carriageway closure for waterproofing works, with moderate delays of 10-30 minutes. Diversion via local authority and National Highways roads.
  • A282 northbound, Dartford Crossing West Tunnel: From 10pm on October 26 to 5am on October 27, tunnel closure for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes. Diversion via National Highways network.
  • A282 northbound, Dartford Crossing East Tunnel: From 10pm on October 27 to 5am on October 28, tunnel closure for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes. Diversion via National Highways network.
  • A2 both directions, M25 junction 2 to Bean: From 10pm on October 28 to 4am on November 2, lane closures for maintenance works, with slight delays of under 10 minutes.
  • A282 anticlockwise, junction 1A to M25 anticlockwise, junction 31: From 10pm on October 28 to 6am on November 9, West Tunnel closure for grillage works, with moderate delays of 10-30 minutes. Diversion via National Highways roads.
