A popular family-run restaurant in Orpington has been named as one of the best restaurants in the south east at a popular national curry awards.
The Bombay, a family-run restaurant in Orpington, celebrated a massive achievement when it was named winner of the Editor’s Choice for the South East award in the Curry Life Awards 2024.
The awards, organised by the Curry Life Media Group, celebrates the UK’s best curry restaurants, serving a range of Asian cuisine from Sri Lankan to Bangladeshi.
This year, the Curry Life Awards marked their 15th year with a ceremony held at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square on Sunday, October 13.
The restaurant has been a part of the Orpington food scene for 40 years since first opening in 1984, and is run by brothers Kobir, Shah and Mj Hussain, who took on the management from their uncle who founded the business.
The restaurant serves traditional Indian fare, with their most popular meals being tandoori and masala dishes.
They also offer four unique dining spaces, including a jungle-inspired area for families and a more formal area for events and parties.
The business was also named a winner in last year's Curry Life Awards, after winning the National Best Restaurant award in 2023.
Syed Nahas Pasha, Editor of Curry Life, said: “The Editor’s Choice is known as the Best of the Best and this year The Bombay restaurant in Orpington had blown us away, well deserved.
“What’s also amazing and brilliant news for the Team at The Bombay is that they are opening another branch in Swanley which will mark their second restaurant.
“The restaurant has gone from strength to strength and it’s one of the best restaurants we have come across over the years.”
