Covent Garden is preparing for its Christmas lights switch-on event which hopes to launch London into the festive spirit.
Covent Garden Christmas light switch-on 2024 date confirmed.
Visitors will get to see the launch of the stunning festive decorations and the grand illumination of the iconic British-grown Christmas tree, which stands over 55 feet tall.
The tree, adorned with 30,000 LED lights, will take centre stage in the neighbourhood.
Last year, Covent Garden introduced dazzling new decorations, including 40 gigantic bells adorned with bows, 12 giant baubles, and eight spinning mirror balls.
The display featured over 29 miles of gold leaf and 275 kilos of glitter suspended inside the historic Market Building.
This year promises even more magic, with a brand-new lighting scheme sweeping through the streets of Seven Dials.
The stunning display will feature an additional 150,000 LED lights, adding a festive glow to the beloved Neal’s Yard.
There will also be pop-ups, family-friendly experiences, exclusive shopping events, surprise performances, and an abundance of drinking, dining, and entertainment offers – all beginning the evening of the light switch-on.
Visitors can also explore immersive experiences, including a visit to Santa’s sleigh for festive photos or sipping mulled wine at Covent Garden’s charming Chalet on the Piazza.
Shoppers can also look forward to the start of Festive Thursdays, which will offer live entertainment and late-night shopping throughout the season.
