A man as treated at the scene of a huge house fire in Hammersmith.

Emergency services flocked to Edith Road shortly before 5pm yesterday (Monday, October 7) to reports of a house fire.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters worked to tackle the blaze.

London Ambulance Service treated a man at the scene, and he then declined further aid.

One room of the fourth floor of a four-storey house was destroyed by the fire.

Photos from the scene showed a police cordon blocking off the road.

Two fire engines can be seen as well as multiple police cars as well as police officers stood next to the cordon.

A London Fire Brigade fire investigation van can be seen pulling into the scene in one of the photos.

The fire was under control by 7pm and its cause is under investigation by Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.55pm on Monday 7 October to reports of an incident in Edith Road, W14.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer.

“Our crews treated a man at the scene, before he was released at the scene declining further aid.”

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire on Edith Road in Hammersmith.

“One room on the fourth floor of the four-storey property was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received the first call to this incident at 1746 and mobilised crews from Hammersmith, Fulham, Chelsea and North Kensington fire stations to the scene.

“The fire was under control by 1900.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.”
