A new fleet of electronic buses are set to be introduced as part of the new shuttle bus service to the Silvertown tunnel in Greenwich.
The Silvertown Tunnel is currently under construction, with hopes to be finished by 2025, and will link Greenwich Peninsula to east London.
As part of the 1.4km tunnel construction, a new shuttle bus service will be introduced along with a dedicated bus lane, in a bid to reduce congestion at the Blackwall Tunnel.
Stagecoach – the UK’s largest bus and coach operator – will supply a new fleet of electronic vehicles to help tackle congestion and air pollution in the capital.
The new buses will also offer space for cyclists to board the buses with their bikes and will provide a “high frequency service”.
Paul Lynch, Managing Director for Stagecoach London, said: “It is fantastic that Stagecoach can help expand the ways the local community connect to what matters most to them.
“This new addition to our network will build on our ambitions for a thriving local bus network with sustainability at its core.”
