An arrest has been made after a woman in her 60s died in a crash in Blackheath.

The incident between a motorbike and a pedestrian happened in Kidbrooke Park Road just before 8.30am today (October 1).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found the woman unresponsive.

She was pronounced dead shortly after.

The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The motorcyclist stopped at the scene.

An arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

Kidbrooke Park Road remains closed both ways between Weigall Road and Henley Cross as the incident is dealt with.

Bus routes 178 and 335 are currently on diversion.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 08:29hrs on Tuesday, 1 October, by London Ambulance services to a collision involving motorcycles and a pedestrian Kidbrooke BR station at the junction of Pegler Square, SE3

“Officers attended along with ambulance colleagues and found that a pedestrian had been injured by the impact and was not respondent.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a woman aged in her 60s, sadly died from his injuries at the scene.

“The woman’s family are being supported by specialist officers.

“A motorcyclist stopped at the scene.

“An arrest has been made and enquiries continue.

“A scene was put in place while the incident was dealt with and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.26am this morning (Tuesday 1 October) to reports of a road traffic collision in Pegler Square, Kidbrooke.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in fast response car, an incident response officer, members of our Tactical Response Unit and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first of our crews arrived in six minutes.

“Our crews treated a woman at the scene. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene.”
