A pub run by an independent, family brewer has reopened after a six-figure refurbishment.
The Bricklayers Arms, based in Masons Hill, closed to undergo a £330,000 makeover and reopened to customers on Friday, September 21.
An official reopening will also be held on Thursday, October 3, attended by Bromley FC’s owner and Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves as well as local organisations and charities.
The pub, affectionately known by the people of Bromley as “The Bricks”, has kept the historic building’s original features and character while introducing a “stylish and complementary contemporary feel”.
Throughout the pub, it has been redecorated with rich greens and cream, incorporating wood panelling with “pockets of snug seating creating a warm and inviting atmosphere”.
Shepherd Neame describes the new bar as “welcoming”, greeting customers as they step through the “freshly painted door”.
The pub covers two levels with a bar on each level.
The Bricklayers Arms claims that both are “well-stocked with beers, wines and spirits”.
The “spacious” courtyard has been transformed with new furniture and colourful planters.
Customers can now pre-book online to enjoy games available at the Bricklayers Arms such as interactive darts using “the latest in social entertainment technology”.
As a special nod to the pub’s history, which dates back to 1851, the original brick tiling has been unearthed and restored – it is now a feature of the pub’s exterior.
The pub considers its foundations to be “friendly service and fine fare” with a new menu being introduced.
It offers a range of traditional pub classics with a twist and the pub claims to use local sourced ingredients.
Customers will continue to be able to enjoy a wide range of Shepherd Neame’s award-winning range of ales and lagers, wines and spirits.
Shepherd Neame Managing Director, Pubs, Jonathon Swaine said: “At Shepherd Neame we place a high value on just how popular The Bricks is with its regulars and the people of Bromley, and we wanted to make sure it was a pub for them to be proud of.
“We believe we have created a warm and welcoming feel and improved The Bricklayers Arms in a sympathetic way to ensure it continues to be enjoyed by locals and visitors for many years to come.”
