The date has been revealed for when the Christmas lights will be switched on in the London High Street that has been named one of the best in Britain.

Marylebone High Street was given the title by firstlight, which used research from AMEX to identify what shoppers want from a high street, and which British shopping spots have “the winning formula”.

The research revealed that the high streets offering a “compelling mix” of shopping and leisure experiences were most desired by Brits.

Marylebone High Street has just that, with a range of businesses from hair salons to dentists to fashion retailers.

So, Londoners looking to visit the top-notch high street for some Christmas shopping can now plan to shop there when the Christmas lights will be twinkling around them.

The lights will be switched on in an annual Merry Marylebone event on Wednesday, November 13.

From 3pm through to 8pm visitors can experience festive activities, market stalls, live music and late night shopping.

On the main stage in the middle of Marylebone Village will be an array of musical and choral performances.

BBC Broadcaster and Marylebone Village resident Jo Good will return to host the switch-on event.

The Christmas lights are set to be turned on at 6pm with a soon-to-be-revealed celebrity guest pressing the button to light up the village.

In the past, guests who have opened the village have included Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Fearne Cotton, Roman and Martin Kemp.

Some of the activities available will include bauble making and wreath making workshops, Santa’s Grotto and a Ferris wheel.
