A vibrant hair salon at the heart of Bexleyheath is gearing up for its 20th anniversary celebration.
Salon 108, located on the lively Broadway, has been a cherished part of the community since 2005, when Linh Coxall and her business partner Tracey Andrews transformed a former salon into a thriving local hotspot.
Linh, who first joined just after her 21st birthday, helped expand the team from a modest duo to an impressive 30 members pre-COVID, many of whom remain part of the family.
With a loyal clientele that includes local mayors, Salon 108 is excited to mark its vigentennial in style.
“On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, we’re going to have some celebrations for our anniversary and decorate the shop”, Linh told the News Shopper.
She added: “We’re also honoured to welcome a visit from the mayor to mark this milestone.
“My sponsor, Moroccan oil, is going to come and give me some samples to give out to clients, and we're just going to have some little nibbles to celebrate.”
Linh said since the Covid 19 outbreak, she and her team have been able to offer apprenticeships to young individuals with a passion for all things hair.
She said: “We nurture every member, and we continue nurturing them until they don't want to learn anymore.
“So, we tend to take work experiences on to give them a bit of an idea what their industry is about.
“I'm a great believer that, you know, our industry is one of those industries that is constantly changing.
“To grow, we need to develop young minds and make them passionate just as much as we are.”
Salon 108 offers a variety of services, such as cutting, blow drying, perming, balayage, hair extensions and more.
Despite having a team of 17 people, both Linh and her business partner work in the salon three days a week, as she said she wants to “lead by example”.
“We want to still be in with the team to understand their everyday problems, and any issues that could face their daily routine”, Linh explained.
Whilst Salon 108 frequently gets fresh new faces as customers daily, the salon has built up more than a decade of clientele, with the Mayor of Bexley visiting regularly.
She added: “The mayor has been one of our long-standing clients for 20 odd years.
“My favourite thing about the job is the team and the people - we've got some fantastic clients that have supported us for over 20 years, and they keep coming, even though they move further away.”
