A PUB burglary suspect was arrested moments before boarding a plane at Heathrow Airport.
Cheshire Police have been investigating reports of a burglary at the Top House in Winsford.
The landlord of the Wharton Road pub called the at 11.30am on Sunday (September 8) to say that an unknown offender had forced entry into the premises at around 1.45am that day and stolen a large quantity of cash.
Following enquiries, a 37-year-old man from Northwich was identified as a suspect in the case.
Subsequent investigations revealed that he was set to board a plane at Heathrow.
After making this discovery, officers from Northwich Proactive Policing Team travelled to Heathrow on Wednesday (September 11) and arrested the man on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling.
Following the arrest Detective Constable Lara Hill, who is leading the investigation, said: “We treat all reports of burglary extremely seriously and as this case demonstrates we will travel the length and breadth of the country to ensure that those responsible for committing such offences are held responsible for their actions.“
The suspect is currently being held in police custody where he is assisting officers with their enquiries.
