Bexley Council are asking residents to have their say on local safety concerns in the upcoming Bexley Community Safety Survey.
The feedback gathered will help shape the priorities of the Bexley Community Safety Partnership (BCSP) for the 2025/26 period.
Following last year’s survey, which highlighted burglary, drugs, and vehicle crime as the top concerns, Bexley claims that several actions were taken to address these issues.
Bexley has maintained the lowest burglary rate in London, thanks to targeted police operations and effective awareness campaigns that informed residents and businesses about practical measures to prevent crime.
In the fight against drug-related crime, officers introduced “Project Adder”.
This police-led initiative, working with local agencies, has focused on dismantling organised crime groups and providing support to those affected by criminal exploitation.
Vehicle crime has also been a key focus which police operations targeting organised crime groups responsible for high-value vehicle thefts have been launched, alongside public awareness campaigns encouraging residents to secure their vehicles.
These efforts reflect Bexley’s commitment to addressing community concerns and improving safety across the borough.
The 2024 survey will be open from September 13 to October 31 and will be available online For those without internet access, free computer access is available at local libraries, or paper copies can be requested by contacting the Council's Community Safety Team.
The Bexley Community Safety Partnership includes the Council, Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, Neighbourhood Watch, Victim Support, and other local organisations working together to tackle crime, antisocial behaviour, and substance misuse in the borough.
Councillor Brian Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, emphasised the importance of community participation. He said: “Bexley is a safe and thriving community, but we understand that crime can have a significant impact on the lives of our residents.
“It’s crucial that everyone feels secure, both at home and in our public spaces.
“By participating in this survey, you’re helping us better understand the concerns of our community so we can take action where it matters most.’’
