Last night at the NTAs 2024 was an unforgettable spectacle, bursting with more sequins than a Strictly finale—truly a night I’ll cherish forever.

My mum and I headed to the O2 Arena on Wednesday (September 12), where we found ourselves mingling with A-listers, fans, and viewers alike, all gathered to witness the magic of the National Television Awards 2024.

Trading my cosy sofa and cuppa for VIP champagne was a surreal experience.

From our prime seats, we soaked in the electric atmosphere with stars like Ant and Dec, Bobby Brazier, Claudia Winkleman, and Martin Lewis sat just below us.

Joel Dommett confidently steered the evening, presenting to a packed arena and millions watching from home, making sure every moment was just as captivating as the last.

The NTAs celebrate the very best of British television, and this year Mr Bates vs The Post Office stole the show, winning Best New Drama, with Toby Jones clinching the Drama Performance award for his role as Alan Bates.

Meanwhile, Bridgerton continued its reign, taking home the award for Best Returning Drama, beating out heavyweights like The Crown, Trigger Point, Vera, and Call the Midwife.

In the world of soaps, Emmerdale triumphed as Best Serial Drama, leaving behind strong contenders like EastEnders, Coronation Street, Casualty, and Hollyoaks.

Peter Ash from Coronation Street emerged victorious in the Serial Drama Performance category, fending off competition from EastEnders’ Angela Wynter and Diane Parish, Coronation Street’s David Neilson, and Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper.

One of the night’s most moving moments was Davina McCall’s Special Recognition award.

Her heartfelt speech, reflecting on personal challenges and paying tribute to the viewers at home, was a reminder of the deep connection she has fostered with the audience over the years.

Throughout the night, I had more than a few “pinch me” moments.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that I’d be at the NTAs, I would’ve laughed.

Yet, here I was, sipping champagne during the ad breaks while the audience cheered and restocked on bubbly.

Personal favourites like Sort Your Life Out won Factual Entertainment, and Mrs Brown’s Boys took home Best Comedy.

Other big winners included The Chase for Daytime, and The Traitors, which snagged Best Reality Competition. Strictly Come Dancing danced its way to victory as Best Talent Show, while the 1% Club took the top spot in Quiz Game Show.

Kate Garraway’s touching documentary Derek’s Story won the Authored Documentary category, and Ant & Dec extended their reign in the Television Presenter category. Sir David Attenborough, as always, secured a well-deserved win in Television Expert for Mammals.

Finally, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here claimed the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, capping off a night full of glitz, glamour, and unforgettable moments.

The NTAs 2024 was everything I’d hoped for—and more.
