A man has been arrested after a knife was recovered in a fight between three students at Bromley College.

The incident happened at the Rookery Lane campus just before 12.30pm yesterday (September 5).

Officers were called to the scene and a knife was found shortly after.

A spokesperson for Bromley College confirmed the situation was dealt with quickly by its staff.

The college is now working closely with the police to ensure the safety of its staff and students.

The spokesperson added: “We understand that this may raise anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students.

“We would like to provide reassurance that our community’s safety is our absolute priority.

“We put additional security measures and support in place immediately – ensuring that our campus continues to provide the highest levels of safety for staff and students.”

No injuries were reported following the incident.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Thursday, 5 September police were called to Rookery Lane, Bromley at 12:26hrs following reports of a fight.

“Officers attended the scene and recovered a knife.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are on-going.”

The full statement from Bromley College says: “An altercation took place at our Bromley Campus yesterday (September 5), involving three students.

“The situation was very quickly diffused by staff, led by our campus support team, and the police attended immediately. No one was hurt or injured.

“This is now a police matter and we are working closely with them to ensure the continued safety of all our staff and students.

“We understand that this may raise anxiety and concern for parents/carers and students.

“We would like to provide reassurance that our community’s safety is our absolute priority.
