A man has been taken to hospital after a middle of the night shooting in Woolwich.

Police were called to the shooting in Kingsman Street at 11.53pm last night (Wednesday, September 4).

A crime scene was put in place and police soon found shell casings and damage to a vehicle.

The area was searched with no sign of a victim or suspects.

At 11.56pm the same night, police were called by London Ambulance Service to a man aged in his 20s with gunshot wounds in Church Street.

He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital and his condition is not currently known.

There have been no arrests.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 23:53hrs on Wednesday, 4 September to reports of shots fired at Kingsman Street, SE18.

“Officers attended and a crime scene was established when shell casings and damage to a vehicle were found.

“A search of the area was conducted with no sign of either a victim or suspects.

“At 23:56hrs, police were called by London Ambulance Service [LAS] to reports of an injured man at a commercial premises on Church Street, SE18.

“At the scene a man, aged 20s, had suffered gunshot injuries.

“He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by LAS.

“We await an update on his condition.

“Crime scenes remain in place at Kingsman Street and Church Street.

“At this early stage there has been no arrest.
