COMPLETING a half-marathon after doing less than three weeks training would be a difficult task for seasoned runners like Paula Radcliffe.
But this is the dare News Shopper's gutsy Dan Keel has been set.
On Sunday he is aiming to do something he has never done before - successfully complete a Dan Dares challenge.
He failed to break the world record for eating three cream crackers in less than 49 seconds instead managing three minutes and five seconds.
Then he sat and ate alone as none of the world's Dan Keels wanted to take up his offer of a drink and a burger.
But his coach Scott "Mickey" Mullins is more hopeful of Dan's chances of finishing the Run to the Beat half marathon in Greenwich.
In fact he thinks he could win it.
Mr Mullins said: "Dan is just one big piggy bank really.
"He has been putting plenty of pennies in over the past few weeks and now he will be able to smash it open and spend those pounds.
"He is ready for the big day, in fact I don't think he could be more prepared.
"It will just be a case of mental strength but if he doesn't come somewhere near the world half-marathon record I will be tempted to eat my hat.
"He will be challenging for the top spot and if conditions suit he could go very quickly indeed.
"I just hope he doesn't get too cocky.
"Yes, he's big time but he can't let that go to his head."
To sponsor Dan please make a cheque payable to Greenwich Starting Blocks and send to Greenwich Starting Blocks, 31 Thomas Street, Woolwich, London, SE18 6HU.
