Greenwich is set to welcome a brand-new creative space as a new pottery studio is set to open next month.
Pottery Studio LDN is set to open its doors next month, located within the vibrant Design District in Greenwich, just a short walk from local attractions like the IFS Cloud Cable Car and the O2, offering a new creative space for people of all levels.
The new store, founded by Maritza Masiello, will open in October and follows on from her first successful pottery studio – The Find Store – in the south east London area of Lee.
This new pottery studio will offer a range of pottery experiences for visitors, from pottery painting events and workshops to memberships for seasonal potters looking to hone their skills.
The Find Store in Lee initially opened its doors in 2019 as an independent business selling homeware and gifts, but the business was forced to close its doors during the Covid pandemic.
After changing direction and re-opening as a pottery studio, the business has increased in popularity and runs regular events and workshops, and has been part of a project with Lewisham Council offering free pottery painting sessions to Lewisham’s refugees who are waiting for settlement status in the borough.
The new studio will offer a variety of pottery experiences such as painting events to wheel-throwing and hand-building workshops, along with the membership scheme to allow local artists to have access to the studio space and facilities.
Visitors will also be able to paint pottery ranging from small items like coasters and tea cups to large plates and bowls, with prices starting from £6.
The first pottery painting class is set to take place on October 10 with places bookable online in advance.
Maritza said: “We’re thrilled to open Pottery Studio LDN in such an inspiring location.
“The Design District is home to a diverse and exciting community, and we can’t wait to bring the grounding and meditative practice of pottery to even more people.”
