Pictures from the scene show a significant emergency service presence as The Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley is cordoned off due to a suspect package.
Huge crowds have gathered outside the Glades shopping centre in Bromley after it was evacuated at around 10am today (Friday).
A spokesperson for The Glades confirmed that a "suspect package" has been located, and the centre is now "closed until further notice," with updates on when it is "safe to reopen" to be provided soon.
Pictures of the scene show the popular shopping centre closed off with the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade at the scene.
A spokesperson for The Glades said: "Please be aware that The Glades is now closed until further notice due to a suspect package.
"All visitors and staff have been safely escorted from the centre, and the Met Police are on site dealing with the situation.
"They will advise when it is safe to reopen and we will inform you as soon as this has been confirmed."
Natasha Fountain, who works at the Glades, told the News Shopper: "All the alarms went off.
"We were told to get outside. The area has been evacuated."
Natasha added: "It's something like out of a film.
"I can't get into my car. My belongings are in there but I can't get to it.
"We've been told it'll be closed for some time now."
Jay, who is currently sat at Costa Coffee, told the News Shopper: "I'm just sat here and sniffer dogs have turned up.
"The fire brigade are here also.
"The area has been closed."
