There are four community asset pubs registered in Lewisham, meaning the spots are dedicated to “meeting the interests of the community”.

While three of those pubs remain open, one of them is currently closed.

The three that remain open are Bell Public House, Perry Hill Public House and White Hart Public House.

While the Dirty South is also listed by Lewisham Council, according to What Pub the venue is experiencing a long-term closure.

Community assets are buildings, land or people that are used to improve the social wellbeing of a local community.

According to Horsham District Council, to be listed as an asset of community value (ACV), the building or land must be nominated by an organisation with local connection and meet specific criteria:

  • The use of the land or building currently, or recently, furthers the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community. For example, cultural, recreational or sporting interests.
  • The use of the land or building will continue to further the social wellbeing or interests of the local community.
  • Meeting the interests of the community must be the principal purpose of the land or building.

We have compiled a list of all of the pubs in Lewisham registered as community assets according to the council and the dates they were registered.
