CCTV footage has captured the moment a pair of bungling thieves tried and failed to steal a Range Rover from a car dealership in Beckenham.
Two masked men were seen exiting a white 4x4 outside Motorland on Croydon Road at around 4.30am on Wednesday (August 14).
The would-be thieves then entered one of the dealership’s Range Rovers and tried to drive it away.
The thieves twice attempted to reverse over bollards which block the exit to the dealership.
On the second attempt the thieves half-mounted the bollards before realising it wouldn’t make it over.
They then gave up and parked the car back in its original spot before getting back into the car they arrived in and driving away.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said they are investigating the incident.
James Hamerton, Managing Director of Rhino Security, the security firm that supplied the bollards, said: "Whilst we don’t like to hear of vehicle theft attempts at the sites of our clients, we're proud that our Rhino Security bollards stood up to the challenge, preventing a significant loss."
