A free sports day is coming to Kidbrooke Village this weekend with a bouncy castle, free activities and an all day DJ.
Kidbrooke Village Sports Day is set to take place in Cator Park, an Attenborough award-winning park and one of the biggest in London.
Taking place this weekend on Saturday (August 24) from 1pm until 5pm, this event will feature a range of family-fun activities from wellbeing and sports sessions for the adults to a bouncy castle and face painting for the children.
This free event marks the launch of Kicks, a Premier League-backed youth football programme aimed at creating opportunities for marginalised young people, supported by Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling.
The event will also mark the opening of the recently refurbished multi-use games area in Cator Park, where visitors can play a wide range of sports from tennis to netball and cricket.
The event will feature free sessions run by Pure Gym and Kent Cricket if you fancy getting active, along with a range of wellbeing stalls ranging from nutrition and sleep to holistic therapies and self-care.
Visitors to the event can also take part in a football or basketball game in the multi-use games area, along with boxing circuits on the grass.
The event will also be accompanied by music from an all day DJ as well as a bouncy castle, face painting and smoothie bike for the children.
Following the launch, Kicks sessions will be run at Kidbrooke Village for local teens every Monday between 5pm and 7pm, alongside regular mentoring and employability workshops.
Paul Prichard, Development Director at Berkeley, said “We look forward to welcoming everyone along to our new-look games area, and are really pleased to be able to host Kicks here every week.
“We’ve been working closely with Royal Borough of Greenwich and partners in the community to make sure that local people feel the benefits of regeneration at Kidbrooke Village, and events like this are a great reminder for everyone of all the fantastic public facilities available to enjoy, right on their doorstep.”
