The Metropolitan Police has released the names of 35 people charged in relation to disorder in Whitehall, Croydon, Walthamstow and Hounslow.
Following the Southport stabbings on July 29 where three children died, the nation has seen a wave of disorder and some riots across the UK, including Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff.
On July 31 a protest badged as 'Enough is Enough' took place in Whitehall, Central London.
Then on Wednesday (August 8) police were braced for further unrest, as forces were prepared to respond to more than 100 possible gatherings around the country, including London.
Prime Minster Keir Starmer told reporters that Wednesday night’s events turned out “much better than was expected” but “anybody involving themselves in disorder, whatever they claim as their motive, will feel the full force of the law”.
The protests were mostly peaceful but arrests were made in Croydon, Hounslow and Walthamstow.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is leading the police operation, said: “It has been hugely heartening to see communities come together this week and it is our privilege to support them.
“Nevertheless, we won’t tolerate hate or intimidation and that is why more than 30 people have been charged with a range of offences.
“Our message is clear - anyone thinking of causing disorder and disruption will be found and will be brought to justice.
“This weekend you will see our officers in your neighbourhoods. They are there to help you and if you have any concerns please speak to them.”
