The Mayor of Lewisham has confirmed that there is currently no intelligence of any planned far-right activity in Lewisham tonight.
A rally has been organised in Lewisham by anti-racist groups to “show solidarity” with communities targeted by the far right.
The council is in constant communication with the police and will continue to collectively monitor the situation.
Brenda Dacres, Mayor of Lewisham said: “Our whole community here in Lewisham has been disturbed and distressed by racist, far-right activity over the last week.”
The mayor confirmed that some local businesses have closed early as a precaution and there will be increased police presence in parts of the borough.
Earlier today, market traders in Lewisham were told by the council to close “earlier than usual” ahead of potential protests.
The Mayor of Lewisham added: “It's been a frightening week, and we all have a responsibility to combat misinformation and help cool heads prevail.
“Lewisham is a living testament to the power of diversity and unity. We are far, far stronger than those who seek to divide us.
“Please continue checking in on your friends and neighbours and reporting any concerns to the police.”
There are no far-right riots or demonstrations planned in Lewisham tonight.

Police in Lewisham previously said they were "aware of plans" circulating on social media for events in Lewisham this evening of which residents will be "appalled and worried".
Superintendent Charlene Pavitt commented on the "awful images from across the country this week", adding that their hearts go out to all those affected by the "vile instances of racism, thuggery and violence".
She said that the force is working hard to keep Lewisham residents safe and prevent any disorder, adding that anyone who is intent on attacking the community will be arrested.
A spokesperson for Lewisham Council said: “We are aware of a solidarity rally/counter protest scheduled to take place in Lewisham town centre this evening and are working with Police to ensure things remain peaceful.
“There will be more officers in the area and can speak to residents who might have questions or concerns.”
