A mini heatwave is expected to hit London this weekend, according to the Met Office.

Despite the overcast skies late this morning, temperatures on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday could reach up to 30°C.

Friday will be warm and sunny until late evening, while Saturday and Sunday will feature sunny intervals accompanied by hot temperatures.

This follows heavy downpours across London after almost a month’s worth of rain fell in an hour, the Met Office said.

A yellow warning for thunderstorms was issued by the forecaster that covered the majority of the UK on Thursday, August 1 as temperatures soared to highs of 30C.
