In a heartfelt tribute to Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee, the Brockley sign under the railway bridge has been creatively adjusted to "BrockYee."

Network Rail teamed up with Lionel Stanhope, a local artist and sign writer renowned for his vintage typography work, to honour Yee's achievements.

The sign is located at the railway bridge near Brockley station.

Alex Yee, who grew up in Lewisham, won gold in the men's triathlon at the Olympics with a dramatic late surge.

Despite being more than 10 seconds behind New Zealand's Hayden Wilde with 200 meters to go, Yee made a phenomenal comeback to secure the victory, marking Team GB's fifth gold on July 31.

More recently, Great Britain secured the bronze medal in the Olympic triathlon mixed team relay in Paris, after initially being announced as silver medallists.

The British team, which included Alex Yee, Georgia Taylor-Brown, Samuel Dickinson, and Beth Potter, battled fiercely with Germany throughout the race.

Despite leading into the final stage, Potter was overtaken on the cycling leg, resulting in a dramatic photo finish with Germany's Laura Lindemann and American Taylor Knibb.

Alex Yee has had an impressive year, winning both his international races in 2024 as part of his preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Artist Lionel Stanhope, who adjusted the sign and also painted the original, grew up in Kingston-upon-Thames and developed an interest in street art during his late teens.

He later moved to Brockley, where his artistic talents have flourished, leading to this tribute to Alex Yee as well as several different railway bridge art signs across south London.
