Greenwich is set to welcome the return of a popular free music festival this weekend, with music performances and street food.

Turning Tides, Greenwich’s free music festival, will be returning to the Greenwich Peninsula this weekend on Saturday, August 10.

This all-day festival is part of the annual Peninsula Summer event, which hosts a calendar of summer activities ranging from music and film to food.

The event will take place within Greenwich Peninsula’s Design District, just a 10-minute walk from North Greenwich and IFS Cloud Cable Car, and marks the event’s sixth year running.

This year's headline act has been confirmed as indie-pop band Girl Ray, who will play alongside a range of other musical acts ranging from afro-punk to soul.

The event will also feature brand-new performances from afro-funk band Ibibio Sound Machine, who will play new music from their 2024 released ‘Pull the Rope’.

The line-up will be completed by Bristol’s new indie-rock outfit Supalung, and a psychedelic electro-punk four-piece band from London and Bahrain called Flamingods.

The festival will also feature south-east London based J.Flowers.mps, a self-releasing and multi-genre artist, as well as Brighton-based BabyEleanor, who join forces to perform their latest track ‘Language’.

Girl Ray, headliner at Turning Tides Festival, said: “We're so excited to headline Turning Tides Festival on 10th August! It's always so fun to play in the city we grew up in, especially in a festival setting.

“We'll be performing songs from our album 'Prestige' that came out last summer, as well as some trusty old hits from the back catalogue.

“We're really excited to be a part of the eclectic lineup and are particularly looking forward to Ibibio Sound Machine and Flamingods, bands we love and who have a fantastic live set”.

The one-day event is free, with visitors being advised to book online prior to the event to secure places.
