A fire has partially damaged an area of hay and stubble field in Orpington.

Five fire engines and 30 firefighters responded to the blaze on Charmwood Lane at 12.52pm today (Thursday).

The fire was brought under control by 2.52pm.

Crews from Orpington, Addington, and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Five fire engines and around 30 firefighters tackled a fire in a field on Charmwood Lane in Orpington.

“An area of hay and stubble field was partially damaged by fire.

“The Brigade was called to the fire at 1252 and the fire was under control by 1452.

“Crews from Orpington, Addington and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
