Four people have been charged after a Greek tourist was fatally stabbed in a suspected botched robbery after leaving a nightclub in New Cross.

Antonios Antoniadis, 26, was allegedly followed and then attacked in New Cross on July 7.

Police were called to Florence Terrace at around 9.20am to where Antonios had been assaulted and stabbed. After two weeks of specialist intensive care in hospital Antonios died on Sunday, July 21.

On Thursday, Shian Johnson, 25, of Argyle Walk in Camden appeared at the Old Bailey charged with his murder.

Prosecutor William Emlyn Jones KC said Mr Antoniadis was killed in “what looks to be an attempt to rob him by the occupants of a car that followed him home from a nightclub”.

He added: “Mr Antoniadis was a visitor to the UK on holiday. He was a Greek national.”

Judge Philip Katz KC set a plea hearing for October 21 and a provisional six-week trial from June 2 next year.

Johnson, from Camden, north London, spoke only to confirm his identity by video link from Belmarsh prison and was remanded into custody.

On Monday, Sofian Alliche, 19, of Holborn, central London, and a 17-year-old youth appeared at the Old Bailey charged with murder and were also remanded into custody.

Joshua McCorquodale, 21, of Upper Park Road, Belsize Park, has also been charged over the incident and was due to have a first Crown Court hearing on Friday morning
