A man has been charged after a stabbing in Peckham which left the victim in hospital five days on.

Police were called to Rye Lane just before 7pm on Saturday, July 27.

Emergency services found a 19-year-old man at the scene with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he remains with injuries that have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

When police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene.

A man was arrested the next morning and has since been charged with GBH and intent.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 18:55hrs on Saturday, 27 July to reports of a stabbing in Rye Lane, Peckham.

“Officers attended and London Ambulance Service and found a nineteen year old man with stab injuries.

“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment; where he remains.

“His injuries are seen to be non-life threatening nor life changing.

“The suspect had already fled the scene. 

“A man was arrested the following morning. He has been charged and remanded  in custody.
