The number of complaints about dog poo not being picked up in Greenwich has been revealed.
Vitasure has shared the data and shared that from 2023 to 2024, there were 18 complaints of dog poo in public areas.
In the same time period, there were only two complaints of dog poo in private property.
This is a decrease from 2022 to 2023 when there were 37 complaints of dog poo in Greenwich’s public spaces.
On private property in that time span, there were also only two complaints of dog poo in private places.
Vitasure’s data has also revealed that there are 903 dog waste bins in Greenwich and currently no plans to increase this number.
In the UK, it is illegal not to pick up after your dog poos out and about.
Anyone who fails to clean up after their dog can be issued with a fine of up to £100.
If someone’s case goes to court, it could then cost them £1,000.
UK law states that being unaware your dog has fouled or not having something suitable with you to pick it up is not a valid excuse.
