Drivers have been delayed for four hours after the M25 was closed due to a serious crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday (July 24) at around 4pm to the crash between a van and a lorry on the A282 on the Dartford Crossing.

National Highways advised drivers that the M25 was closed clockwise between J30 and the A282 J2 in Dartford.

The scene was attended by multiple emergency services teams with officers from Kent Police, Kent Fire Service and East Coast Ambulance Service.

A woman was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the crash, the carriageway was closed whilst emergency services worked at the scene and was reopened over four hours later at 8:37pm.

Lane 1 remained closed for a further hour and National Highways confirmed the lane had reopened later yesterday evening at 9:49pm.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at around 4.05pm on Wednesday 24 July 2024 to a collision involving a van and a lorry on the A282 in Dartford.

“Patrols, highways officers, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and a woman was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital for treatment.

“The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.”
