A road leading to a Tesco superstore in Bromley is set to be closed over the next four weeks for gas works.
SGN announced the temporary closure of Homesdale Road in Bromley would start from Monday, July 22, 2024.
This closure is to facilitate essential gas main replacement work and is expected to last for four weeks.
The affected section of Homesdale Road will be closed at the railway bridge, situated between the junction of Waldo Road and the entrance to the Tesco superstore.
To minimise disruption, SGN has implemented two diversion routes for motorists: Diversion 1: Motorists are advised to follow the route via Masons Hill (A21), Kentish Way (A21), Widmore Road, Bickley Road, and Page Heath Lane in both directions.
Diversion 2: Alternatively, drivers can take Bromley Common (A21), Crown Lane Spur, Crown Lane, Southborough Lane, Southborough Road, Bickley Park Road, and Page Heath Lane in both directions.
SGN acknowledges the inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and motorists.
The gas main replacement is a crucial project aimed at enhancing the reliability and safety of the gas supply in the area.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
A spokesperson for Tesco said that the Bromley Superstore is fully accessible and is open and trading as normal.
SGN has been approached for further comment.
