A male is in hospital after a stabbing near the British Museum in London.
The incident happened in Great Russell Street just before 5.30am today (July 22).
Officers attended and found that the victim and two suspects reportedly fled the scene in cars.
The victim later presented himself to hospital where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A crime scene has been put in place as the incident is being investigated.
It is understood that the stabbing is not related to the British Museum, and it is open as normal.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Great Russell Street, WC1 at approximately 05:32hrs on Monday, 22 July following reports of a stabbing.
“Officers attended and established that the victim and two suspects made off in separate cars.
“The victim subsequently presented himself at hospital where he remains.
“His injuries have been seen to be non-life threatening and non-life changing.
“A crime scene is currently in place at the location.
“There have been two arrests.
“Enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information at this early stage is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD1107/22Jul.
“You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
