Thamesmead Eastern Way crash: Man in critical condition

London Ambulance Service and police were called at 8.47pm on Monday, July 15 to the crash at the junction of Eastern Way and the A2016.

Police explained that two cars were involved in the crash and the investigation continues into the circumstances of the incident.

Ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer were sent to the scene, alongside London’s Air Ambulance.

Two people were treated at the scene, and they were both taken to major trauma centres, with one being rushed to hospital as a priority.

He remains in a critical condition.

Officers added that no other serious injuries were reported.

Police are now asking anyone with further information or witnesses to contact police.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 20:50hrs on Monday, 15 July to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars in Eastern Avenue, SE28.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

“The male driver of one of the cars was taken to hospital for treatment; he remains there in a critical condition.

“No reports of any other serious injuries.

“No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.

“Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD8161/15Jul.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.47pm on Monday 15 July to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Eastern Way and A2016, Thamesmead.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first of our crews arrived in six minutes.

“Our crews treated two patients at the scene, before taking them both to a London major trauma centre, one as a priority.”
