A Japanese restaurant has opened its eighth site in Catford, promising to bring the best of Japanese food.

Taro, a restaurant group known for its authentic Japanese dishes, continues its expansion this summer with its new south east London location.

The Catford site marks its eighth restaurant, following the recent opening of its seventh restaurant in Brentwood.

Taro has a varied menu concocted from fresh ingredients and designed to transport customers straight to Japan with each bite.

Fans of small plates can look forward to grilled chicken or prawn gyozas, or sample Takoyoki - deep-fried octopus balls with Japanese tonkatsu sauce – and salads and sushi to pair with the warmer weather.

Main courses include steaming bowls of ramen, udon noodles, and different rice dishes.

The bento boxes, served in traditional black and red trays, are brimming with Japanese classics such as sushi, tempura, katsu, and edamame.

Complemented with a hot miso soup and Japanese rice, it is a firm favourite among regulars.

Each dish at the Taro Catford site can be served with award-winning bottled cocktails, all produced in south London by Catford businesses, Bottle.

A refreshing lychee martini made of fresh lychee juice, coconut syrup, and lime pairs well with Taro's fresh sushi and sashimi.

Mr Taro, the founder of the Taro restaurant group, first visited London in 1979.

His dream was to bring Japanese cuisine and culture to London.

After opening his first restaurant in Brewer Street in 1999, his group has been on a mission to provide the finest authentic Japanese food.

Taro Catford will also offer takeout services through Deliveroo & UberEats.

It opening hours are Monday through Saturday, from 12pm to 10pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 9.30pm.
