Southeastern train services have been disrupted today (June 24) because of a trespasser near London Waterloo.
Services between Waterloo East and Charing Cross have been disrupted, causing congestion on several routes as this is one of the busiest parts of the Southeastern network.
According to the Southeastern website, this delay is expected until 1pm.
A Southeastern spokesperson said that a trespasser was reported on railway property at around 7.45am in the London Waterloo East area and he remains in place.
There are delays and alterations to trains, but services can currently run to and from London Charing Cross
Pictures show a number of police officers and police tape under the railway bridge on Sutton Walk.
On the bridge is a man and a banner that reads “Ombudsman needed homeless are cash cow gov two billion charities. 100’s millions we have no voice. Abuse negligence lies theft happen.”
There are also fire engines and an ambulance at the scene.
Some Southeastern services have been diverted to other stations in London to reduce delays.
Anyone who has been delayed by more than 15 minutes will be able to claim compensation on the Southeastern website.
A spokesperson for Southeastern said: "Services are being disrupted while the emergency services respond to a trespasser near to the railway between Waterloo East and Charing Cross.
"This is one of the busiest parts of the network and there is congestion on several routes. Some services are being diverted to other London stations to reduce delays.
"Anyone delayed by more than 15 minutes should claim Delay Repay compensation on our website."
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters assisted the Metropolitan Police Service with an incident on Railway Bridge in Waterloo.
"The Brigade was called at 0737 and the incident was over for firefighters at 0854. Crews from Lambeth and Clapham attended the scene. "
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the railway bridge over York Road and near Waterloo underground station at around 7.33am today (24 June) following reports of a person in a precarious position.
"The incident is ongoing, and officers are in attendance alongside colleagues from other emergency services.”
