Police have issued an update on the condition of a man injured in a Lewisham stabbing.

On Saturday, June 22, at around 4.30am police were called to a stabbing in Lewisham Way.

Shortly after the stabbing was reported to police, a man aged in his 20s went to a south London hospital with stab wounds.

At the time, his injuries were assessed as life-threatening but today (Monday, June 24) police have confirmed that his injuries are no longer life-threatening.

A crime scene remains in place around Lewisham Way, New Cross Road, Amersham Road, Shardeloes Road and Parkfield Road.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH as a result of the stabbing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police and LAS were called at 0434hrs on Saturday, 22 June, to a stabbing in Lewisham Way, SE14.

“A short time later a man, aged in his 20s, presented himself at a south London hospital suffering stab injuries. These injuries are not being treated as life-threatening.

“A large crime scene remains in place around Lewisham Way, New Cross Road, Amersham Road, Shardeloes Road and Parkfield Road.

“An investigation is under way.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and taken into police custody.

“Anyone with information or any witnesses are asked to call 101, ref 1430/22jun.
