Police are appealing for witnesses and victims to “come forward” after a series of alleged abuse at a south east London train station.

Officers received reports that a male had been racially abusive towards members of the public at Petts Wood station.

The incident happened between 6pm and 7pm on Tuesday, June 11, at Petts Wood station.

Two people were verbally abused while a delivery driver was also verbally abused in the surrounding areas of the station.

A male was subsequently arrested on June 12 on suspicion of racially aggravating public order.

Police currently do not have any information about the identities of one of the people who was abused at the station or the delivery driver.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and victims to come forward to help with the investigation.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday 11th June 2024, it was reported to police that a male had been racially abusive towards members of the public.

“Two members of the public were verbally abused at Petts Wood station and another individual, allegedly a delivery driver, was also verbally abused in the surrounding areas of the station.

“The incident occurred between 6pm and 7pm. The male was arrested on 12th June for racially aggravating public order (s4a).

“We do not currently have any information about the identities of one of the members of public who was abused at the station or the delivery driver.

“We are appealing for the victims and any witnesses to come forward to assist with our enquiries- if you have any information to assist us, please call 101 and use the reference number: CAD: 6619/11JUN24.”
