A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in South Norwood yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing by the London Ambulance Service.

The incident happened at the junction of Avenue Road and Warminster Road at 3.47pm on Tuesday (June 18).

Emergency services attended the scene and a teenage boy was found with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening.

There has been no arrests at this stage and a crime scene remains in place.

Urgent enquiries are underway and police are appealing for anyone with information.

 

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to the junction Avenue Road and Warminster Road, SE25 at 3.47pm on Tuesday, June 18 following reports of a stabbing.

"Officers, LAS and London’s Air Ambulance all attended.

"A teenage boy [no further details] was found suffering with stab wounds.

"He was taken to hospital where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening.

"At this early stage no arrests have been made.

"A crime scene remains in place at the location and urgent enquiries are under way.

"Anyone with information about the incident should call 101 quoting 5150/18JUN."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.46pm on Tuesday 18 June to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Avenue Road and Warminister Road, South Norwood.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a patient at the scene, before taking him to a major trauma centre.”
