A heartbroken mum has paid tribute to her “amazing” and “funny” boy who was killed in a motorbike crash in Biggin Hill.
Vincent Thompson was among two teens found injured by an off-duty police officer in Main Road at 11.55pm on June 9.
The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
Lisa McKay told the News Shopper that Vincent was the “best son anyone could ask for” who touched the hearts of many people.
She said: “Vincent was amazing, kind, honest, thoughtful and funny and the best big brother and son anyone could ask for.
“He loved fishing with his dad and loved surrounding himself with his friends.
“He was also helpful to all his neighbours by cutting their grass. He loved animals, he was like Dr. Dolittle.”
The other boy, who was also 17, was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken to a south London police station.
He was later released under investigation.
Vincent’s family moved to Biggin Hill from Penge where he started at Charles Darwin School and then moved to Bromley Trust Academy in Year 10.
Lisa said he passed all his GCSEs due to the “incredible” amount of love and support from Bromley Trust Academy.
She explained: “Bromley Trust Academy brought out the best in Vince where he passed all his GCSEs.
“He was currently studying level one plumbing and had a job at the local carpet shop alongside two recent work offers with local companies.
Alongside Vincent’s GCSE results, he excelled in activities outside of school after being presented with a Jack Petchey award.
He also gained level two qualifications including, DJing, cooking, team leading, and functional skills.
Since Vincent’s death, their family friend has set up a GoFundMe page to cover his funeral costs.
Lisa added: “The support and love are genuinely getting us through.
“Seeing how loved my son was and touched everyone’s heart is giving me the strength each day.”
An 18-year-old man was arrested on June 10 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to a south London police station and was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.
Police enquires continue to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 and quote reference 8152/10JUN24.
