A man in his 20s has died after a car crashed into a tree in Beckenham.

The incident happened in South Eden Park Road near the junction with St David's Close just before 12.45am yesterday (June 9).

Officers, London Ambulance Service crews, and London Fire Brigade were called to the scene.

An ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer also attended.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at about 00:42hrs on Sunday, 9 June to reports of a car in collision with a tree on South Eden Park Road, near the junction with St David's Close, Bromley.

“Officers and colleagues from London Ambulance Service attended, and found a man – aged in his 20s – dead at the scene.

“His family have been informed.

“No arrests have been made.

“Any witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to call 101, ref  CAD 305/09JUN.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.39am yesterday (9 June) to reports of a road traffic collision in South Eden Park Road, West Wickham.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

“We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance which consisted of a paramedic and a doctor in a car.

“The first paramedic arrived in less than seven minutes.

“Sadly despite the efforts of our crews - and our colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade - the patient died at the scene.”
